Ian Longley is a regional petroleum geologist with 34 years of experience who has worked for Lasmo, Woodside, Shell and Oil Search in various locations around the planet in junior and executive exploration roles. He has specialised in the plate tectonic evolution, regional petroleum geology, play and prospect analysis and the hunt for new exploration opportunities in the Australasian region. He runs the industry training course on the Petroleum Geology of SE Asia (www.pgsea.com) and has published extensively on the regional petroleum geology. He is also joint founder joint of the Player ArcGIS play analysis software (www.gis-pax.com) which is now used by 30+ international E&P exploration companies around the world.

Dr. Narender Pendkar
Sedimentology Specialist,

Dr. Narender Pendkar is a Sedimentologist with nearly three decades of experience in petroleum industry carrying out prospect to regional scale reservoir characterisation, stratigraphic models integrating core, outcrop, wireline log, core analysis, gamut of laboratory analyses and petrophysical data. Excellent expertise in evaluating clastic, carbonate and basement reservoirs. Proficiency in varied depositional environment ranging from fluvial to deep-water setting. He has vast experience across several global basins and SE Asia basins (Sabah, Sarawak, Peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar, offshore Brunei, Indonesia). He is also an experienced and well acknowledged Instructor for classroom training, field workshops, core workshops for in-house and professional forums like PGCE and EAGE-APGCE. He has received his MS from IIT‐Kharagpur, India and a Doctorate from University of Delaware, USA.

Tengku Mohd Syazwan

Tengku Mohd Syazwan has been working in the industry since 2006. At present, he is leading Sabah Basin team conducting basin analysis and acreage evaluations in Sabah and NW Borneo. He was leading the stratigraphy group serving Basin, Ventures and Development teams conducting regional basin studies, block evaluations and reservoir characterisation and modelling. He studied and analysed 32 major basins worldwide which covers Asia Pacific regions, Central Asia region, Atlantic margins in North America, South America and West Africa. His job scope mainly establishing stratigraphic framework, seismic interpretations, mapping, reservoir correlations, facies modelling, stratigraphic forward modelling, Gross Depositional Environments, play fairways and risking. He is also the Technical Authority for stratigraphy in PETRONAS in which he provides technical assurance in his core specialities. He is also one of the most effective Technical Line Trainers who received average rating 4.8/5.0 from course evaluations. He is the fieldtrip instructor for PETRONAS internal courses and International conferences fieldtrip.

Dr. Erlangga Septama

Dr. Erlangga Septama is a lead specialist for exploration research in Pertamina Upstream Research Technology Innovation. He has more than 25 years of experience in various roles in the petroleum industry, namely operation geologist, petrophysicist, development geophysicist, and explorationist; in a broad spectrum of geological settings such as shallow marine, deltaic, deep-sea and carbonates, tertiary and pre-tertiary resources in Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. He obtained his ST (geology) from Universitas Trisakti, Indonesia; MAppSc from The University of New South Wales, Australia; and Ph.D. from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. His primary passion lies mainly in marine geology, sedimentology, and high-resolution sequence stratigraphy. Currently he is assigned as the vice chairman of IAGI (Indonesian Association of Geologist) and chairman of ASCOPE (ASEAN Council on Petroleum) Policy Research and Capability Building.

Professor John Kaldi

John Kaldi is an Emeritus Professor of Petroleum Geology and Engineering at the Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources (ASPER), University of Adelaide. He is the CO2CRC Distinguished Scientist and holds the South Australia State Chair in Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS). He is also an Adjunct Professor at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia, and a Visiting Professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in Malaysia. John received his Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Geology from Queens College, City University of New York, and a PhD in Geology from Cambridge University in the UK. His career includes 18 years in the Petroleum industry in both technical and managerial roles with Shell, ARCO, (including ARCO Indonesia) & VICO. John has served as Distinguished Lecturer for various professional organisations, including SPE, AAPG, Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) and the Petroleum Exploration Association of Australia (PESA). He has served as AAPG’s International Regions Vice President (2013 – 2015) and as Chair of the House of Delegates (2019 - 2020). Since 2015, he has been the chair of the International Steering Committee of the IEAGHG Education Program. Other roles he has held include Seals Program Manager for the Australian Petroleum Cooperative Research Centre (APCRC) and Chief Scientist for the CO2CRC He has been the author and presenter of over 150 journal articles and technical conference papers.
