Dr. Ahmad Riza Ghazali

Dr. Ahmad Riza Ghazali is a highly accomplished chief geophysicist with over 25 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry. He has held various managerial and leadership roles in Upstream E&P, and R&D technology developments and commercialization. He has a Bachelor of Science Geophysics (Geological) from the University of Leicester, UK, and a PhD in Geophysics from Faculty of Applied Physics, Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands.

Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions towards the industry, including pioneering the establishment of GeoImaging Program Division that led to the successful hydrocarbon discoveries in Malaysia and international explorations. He has led various major technology R&D projects for PETRONAS including in-house multi-fiber optics sensor system.

In recent years, he has also held the responsibility of chief technical advisor for the Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage technology program ensuring successful technical strategies, assurance, and investments.

He is an active member of EAGE and sits as the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Advisory Panel for Asia Pacific region. He is previously the panel member of evaluation committee for Long Term and Fundamental Research Fund by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Scientific Advisory Committee for Sultan Mizan Antartic Research Foundation, Malaysia.
