Ir. Shah Rizal Dahlan

Ir. Shah Rizal Dahlan was appointed as VP of GPD, PT&HSSE on January 1st, 2024. He is a 51-year-old Malaysian and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, United States. He is a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a certified Functional Safety Engineer under Technischer Uberwachungsverein (TUV) since 2012.

As a PETRONAS Education scholar from secondary studies, he joined PETRONAS in 1997 as a Field Instrument Executive in PETRONAS Chemicals Ammonia Sdn. Bhd. He held various positions on the Technical Professional career path including Electrical and Instrument Maintenance Superintendent and Staff Engineer before joining Group Technical Solutions (GTS) in July 2008 as Principal Engineer and progressing to take up the role of Custodian for Instrumentation and Control in August 2012. In June 2020, he was appointed as Head of Planning & Corporate Services for PD&T, which became a dual role orchestrating strategic planning and project execution when he was appointed as Head of Group Technical Solutions, PD&T between September 2020 to April 2021.

Ir. Shah Rizal's enriched technical experience and strategic thinking, combined with his passion in energy sustainability for the future, us evident through his notable achievements. He led the establishment of the Sustainable Development and Enterprise Decarbonisation's teams, spearheading the Race2Decarbonise global hackathon to crowd-source innovative solutions that accelerate PETRONAS' journey towards Net-Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 (NZCE 2050). Shah Rizal was instrumental in establishing the Result Delivery Program - Focus Area, propelling PETRONAS' diversification into non-traditional businesses. His foresight in securing the company's long-term viability led him to champion the 5G technology adoption in PETRONAS, ahead of the national 5G deployment. This vision also materialised in enterprise solutions like the Enterprise Digital Twin and the crafting of PETRONAS' comprehensive Cybersecurity Strategy and Framework. He was also a key contributor to the successful delivery of the PETRONAS Floating LNG (PFLNG) 1 & 2 projects.

Ir. Shah Rizal is currently serving as the CEO of PETRONAS Technical Services Sdn. Bhd. as the Chairman of PETRONAS Global Technical Solutions Sdn. Bhd. Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at University Teknologi PETRONAS. Since August 2021, Ir. Shah Rizal has been a key advocate for diversity and inclusion, serving as the advisor to the PETRONAS Leading Women Network (PLWN), actively supporting initiatives within PETRONAS and across the broader industry.
