A specialist in implementing innovative global initiatives, capital projects and product development, Dr. Vargas has directed dozens of projects across industries managing more than USD 20 billion in global initiatives. He also created and led the Brightline Initiative from 2016 to 2020 and was Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Infrastructure and Project Management Group, leading more than 1,000 projects in humanitarian and development projects.
Dr. Vargas has written 16 books on project management, risk and crisis management and transformation, which have been translated into seven languages and sold more than half a million copies. A chemical engineer by trade, he holds a doctorate in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
